Working With Community And Consumer Groups

OptumHealth values open, collaborative relationships to help expand and enrich the community-based delivery systems that are already in place. We recognize that every community has unique needs; therefore, one of our core strategies for improving the system of care is strengthening the capabilities of existing community-based social, educational, clinical and peer-run services.

Today, across the country, OptumHealth is:

  • Facilitating community processes to identify and fill core gaps in services
  • Assisting existing providers in acquiring the necessary tools and skills to offer new treatment modalities
  • Offering technical and financial support to consumer- and family-run organizations as they develop new peer-run services, with an emphasis on achieving certifications and licensure necessary to generate ongoing revenue
  • Providing free technical and grant writing assistance to local safety-net providers
  • Working with community nonprofits to address core needs related to food, clothing and housing
  • Reaching out to nontraditional partners like Head Start programs, school districts, park and recreation boards
  • Recognizing and encouraging natural supports within the community
  • Reinvesting in community-based ventures that strengthen and enrich the system of care

OptumHealth’s commitment and connection to each community is reinforced through recruitment of consumers and family members across our organization. We create community-appropriate cultural diversity programs in all of our local operations.
