MILES SNOWDEN, M.D., M.P.H., C.E.B.S. Chief Medical Officer OptumHealth

As chief medical officer, Miles Snowden is responsible for leveraging his experience as a physician, broad-based human resources executive and health strategist to lead the development and delivery of impactful health improvement and medical cost management solutions for a wide variety of constituents served by OptumHealth. These include carriers, public and private employers, and government payers.

Snowden was executive vice president, UnitedHealthcare National Accounts, from 2004 to 2010, leading clinical product strategy, clinical consulting and southeast region client management for the large employer market segment. Prior to 2004, he was director, Benefits Strategy & Health Services at Delta Air Lines, where he managed the health care benefits for more than 180,000 employees, retirees and dependents globally. His scope of work also included workers' compensation programs, disability plans, absence plans, an employee assistance program, a national occupational health clinic system and global passenger health issues.

Prior to Delta Air Lines, Snowden was founder and medical director of an occupational health consulting practice in Louisville, Ky. He is board certified by both the American Boards of Internal Medicine and Preventive Medicine, and a certified employee benefits specialist.
