OptumHealth Behavioral Solutions Will Support Quality Care and Recovery as Part of New York’s Plan to Enhance the State’s Behavioral Health System
NEW YORK (Nov. 4, 2011) — The New York State Office of Mental Health and the New York State Office of Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Services has selected OptumHealth to serve as New York City’s regional Behavioral Health Organization.
OptumHealth’s Behavioral Solutions business will coordinate behavioral health services that help adults and children on Medicaid obtain high‐quality care at the right time and place.
Beginning Nov. 1, OptumHealth will work closely with New York City’s behavioral health care providers to help people receive the most effective treatment for their needs. The company will also help connect people, as they leave hospitals and other in‐patient facilities, with appropriate community‐based programs that can help them achieve long‐term recovery – ensuring a seamless transition for people currently accessing programs provided by the city and state.
OptumHealth was selected as a New York Behavioral Health Organization as part of a broader New York State reform initiative to enhance the quality and efficiency of the Medicaid behavioral health system.
