Critical Illness
OptumHealth Specialty Benefits offers group critical illness insurance, which provides a “living” benefit to an insured member diagnosed with one of ten critical illnesses, including cancer, heart attack and stroke. Benefits may be used to cover any expenses.
Critical Illness plan options include:
- Traditional: Fully or partially paid for by the employer, with optional dependent coverage
- Base-Buy-up: Employer pays 100 percent of the base plan, and employees may purchase additional benefits
- Voluntary: Employee-pay-all benefit
Critical Illness insurance products are underwritten by United HealthCare Insurance Company. All product features may not be available in all states.
Specialty Accident
OptumHealth Specialty Benefits offers specialty accident insurance products, including:
- Business Travel Accident: An employer-paid plan that provides employees with 24-hour insurance for loss of life or injuries sustained in an accident while traveling for business (subject to limitations).
- Voluntary Accidental Death & Dismemberment (Voluntary AD&D): An employee-paid benefit that provides a lump-sum benefit to employees in the event of loss of life or limbs sustained in an accident within 365 days of an accident, whether on or off the job.
Both products include access to Travel Assistance Services, which assist domestic and foreign travelers with emergency travel needs. These value-added services are included at no additional cost to the employer.
