As chief financial officer for OptumHealth, John Way’s responsibilities include accounting and reporting, budgeting, financial planning and analysis, cash and balance sheet management, regulatory capital, underwriting and pricing, investment decision and business risk management.

Way joined the corporate development department of UnitedHealth Group in 2002, focusing on competitor analysis and financial due diligence for mergers and acquisitions. In 2004, Way became the controller of Specialized Care Services. Prior to joining UnitedHealth Group in 2002, he was a senior manager at PriceWaterhouseCoopers.

Way is a certified public accountant (inactive) and earned his bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of St. Thomas.
